Summer 2024
Donald A Wilson SS, Whitby
Durham District School Board (CCSB)
The Donald A Wilson HPE department has been working hard to transform HPE in their school community over the past couple years. They strive to deliver quality Health and Physical education through inclusive classroom environments focusing on giving students agency over their physical literacy. Co-Taught, Non-Gendered PPL10, PPL20 and PAF20 courses, new PAL30 Sport-Ed Model classes, and a robust leadership development/SHSM program have been their main focus for the past few semesters. The team has prioritized student feedback, measured retention rates, and intentional professional reflection to support what Wilson students want and need from a quality HPE program. The results so far…happy students who love moving and some rejuvenated teachers who have renewed passion for professional development and trying new things.
